The team is making a deal with the Indians to acquire star shortstop Francisco Lindor and starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco, Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed.
Shortstops Andres Gimenez and Amed Rosario will travel to Cleveland with outfield prospect Isaiah Greene and pitching prospect Josh Wolf.
The 27-year-old Lindor will be a free agent after this season, and it has long been believed that Cleveland would oust the superstar.
The quadruple All-Star would be a major upgrade to the left of the Mets infield and the first big step in the Steve Cohen era.
Carrasco, 33, missed the end of the 2019 season fighting leukemia. He was successful in the shortened 2020 season, posting an ERA of 2.91 in 12 innings and 82 strikeouts in 68 innings. He was the comeback player of the year.
