The Washington Wizards have been 1-9 against Utah Jazz since February 2016, but they’ll have a chance to fill the gap a bit on Thursday. The Wizards return as soon as they host Utah at 7 p.m. ET March 18 at the Capital One Arena. Washington is hoping to mend the holes in a defense that averages 120.1 points per game.
Everything was 66-66 at halftime, but Washington wasn’t quite as good as the Sacramento Kings in the second half when they met on Wednesday. Washington lost 121-119 to Sacramento with a last-minute jumper from Kings Point Guard De’Aaron Fox with 0:01. Washington’s defeat should not affect the performances of shooter Bradley Beal, who had six rebounds with 29 points and five assists, and point guard Russell Westbrook, who scored a triple double of 26 points, 14 boards and ten groschen. This is the third match in a row that Westbrook has had at least ten assists.
Meanwhile, Tuesday’s jazz hit the Boston Celtics 117-109. Shooting guard Donovan Mitchell (21 points) and point guard Jordan Clarkson (20 points) were the top scorers for Utah.
The wizards are the clear underdogs, so they hope it is the size of the fight that determines it. Now may not be the best time to beat Washington against the spread as they have failed bettors for the last two consecutive games.
Utah’s win raised it to 29-10, while Washington’s loss brought it down to 14-25. We’ll see if jazz can replicate its recent success or if Washington rebounds and reverses its fortune.
The Jazz is a big favorite of 10.5 against the Wizards according to the latest NBA odds.
