World News – USA – Ohio State Rand UMass Lowell, 74-64, at the Covelli Center

. . In a game that turned out tighter than expected, the Buckeyes won on Sunday with a 74-64 win over UMass Lowell.

. .

The first game was easy.

When the State of Illinois scored their first points on Wednesday afternoon, the State of Ohio had already taken the lead 22-0. The rest of the game was a bit of a slumber party as Justice Sueing’s 19-point debut in Scarlet and Gray helped his team ship the Redbirds with ease.

Sunday’s slope at the Covelli Center with UMass Lowell was different, but the result was the same: an Ohio State victory. The Buckeyes, trailing in the second half of the second half, scrambled for a 74:64 win to improve their record to 2-0.

Ohio state left the last media timeout at 3:53, holding onto a slight 63-61 edge that was representative of everything that had happened up to that point. Neither team led by more than five points in the second half. UMass Lowell held the lead mostly for the first 10 minutes until Ohio State took it back in the middle of the second half with two free throws from Justice Sueing, who – what he does best – fouled on transition.

For the first time in the second half, Duane Washington Jr. . Triple gave Ohio State a lead of more than five points and sent their advantage to 70-63 with 1:08 remaining. This, followed by a defensive freeze, effectively put the game out of reach for the River Hawks, who had to begin the fouling.

Washington scored 21 points and scored 7 of 17 shots, including the dagger 68 seconds ahead.

For most of the afternoon, the horse chestnuts behind the 3-point arch couldn’t hit anything. Washington ended the losing streak of 11 missed 3-pointers in the sixth minute of the second half, but they only made three more 3s to the rest of the game. Most of their damage came into the house offensively.

With 12 offensive boards and a 41-31 lead on the glass, the state of Ohio scored 30 points on the paint and 15 points on second chance. E.. . J. . Liddell recorded 11 points and eight boards.

UMass Lowell relied on their long-range bombs to finish them off until the last minute. The River Hawks hit 11 of their 30 3-point attempts. In particular, Obadiah Noel, the first-team All-America East Guard, was kept to 15 points in 5-of-21 shooting.

Next up: The Buckeyes return to the Schottenstein Center to face Morehead State at 5 p.m.. m. Wednesday.
