I decline KNICKS (230) for half a unit as I take New York plus the dots and bet on an underdog’s money line and spread which fits my long term NBA betting strategy.
New York won last year’s season series. With two of Atlanta’s three off-season acquisitions on the injury report, I’d argue that the Knicks who hire Tom Thibodeau to head coach improve them year on year for this game. Until the Hawks have a constant offensive regardless of 3-point shooting and prove themselves to be defenders, I’m not buying Atlanta stock.

PASS ON THE TOTAL. Part of me thinks the Knicks and Hawks will continue the cashing overs trend from last year as Atlanta ranks second in offensive efficiency and ranked 17th. Spot on Defensive Efficiency, but it’s surprising that Monday totals are expected to be lower than the previous seven games despite the recent head-to head trend.
Also, the bettors know how bad the New York offensive can be, but they’re 2-4 O / U this season and the Hawks have the same O / U record despite being second per game.
