HOUSTON (AP) – Luka Doncic had 33 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists and Tim Hardaway Jr. . The Dallas Mavericks used a big run in the fourth quarter to score a 113-100 win over the Houston Rockets on Monday night.
Dallas was at the top with about seven minutes ahead of 3, before he extended the lead to 106: 92 with a sprint 14: 3 with seven points from Hardaway and still had about 2½ minutes.
Houston couldn’t get anything going when the Mavericks took over. The missiles missed five shots and had two turnovers in that time.

Hardaway, who made 8 out of 10 3-point attempts, added another 3-pointer to get the game out of reach.
Dallas manager Rick Carlisle changed his starting line-up to try for more height against the Rockets, joining Hardaway’s Willie Cauley-Stein, who is 7 feet tall, for the first time this season.
« It was a really strong character performance from Tim, » he said. “He was great on both ends of the floor … Tim Hardaway showed how great and professional it is to respond to a line-up change. ”
« You have to be a professional, » he said. « I’m here to help this team in any way I can. I just had to make sure I was ready when I got into the game to make a difference. ”
« We were way too stagnant, we didn’t move the ball enough to put pressure on them and make it difficult for them, » said coach Stephen Silas.
Both Doncic and Harden were back after sitting with injuries in their team’s last game. Doncic returned after missing Sunday’s loss to Chicago with an injured quadriceps. Harden played after facing the Kings on Saturday with a sprained ankle.
Carlisle was impressed that his team was able to slow Harden down and limit the missiles to just 100 points.
« We will hold our own on the defensive this year, » he said. « That’s exactly how it will be. We have to build on that somehow. ”
Houston only made 11 out of 40 3-pointers and Harden was 3 out of 11 from a distance and 5 out of 17 overall.
« I’m really just disappointed with our offensive efforts tonight because this is not the game I imagined, » said Silas.
The Mavericks led the fourth by seven points before Houston opened the quarter with an 8-1 run to tie it up by about 10 minutes. Eric Gordon made three free throws to get things going and Sterling Brown had a 3 tying it.
Dallas had a 16 point lead after a three-point game by Doncic, in the third quarter it was eight minutes. The missiles then scored the next 14 points to get within 72-70 four minutes later. Harden had a 3-pointer setback for this distance and Jae’Sean Tate covered him with six straight points.
Doncic struggled during this time, flipped the ball three times and received a technical foul.
The Mavericks eventually ended a drought with a 3-hand Hardaway, and it stayed in the quarter for less than three minutes.
Another 3-pointer from Hardaway later in the third extended the lead to six points before Gordon hit a 3 for Houston. But Doncic scored the last four points of the quarter to put the Mavericks in fourth place with 84-77.
DeMarcus Cousins was thrown after receiving two technical fouls in three minutes in the second quarter. The first came when he and Cauley-Stein both got one after attacking each other after fighting over a ricochet.
Cousins were thrown out when he yelled at an officer after failing to receive a foul call after a layup with about nine minutes in the first half. Silas was clearly dissatisfied with the call and stood a few minutes away from a referee who pointed and argued about it before being pushed away by Harden.
Mavericks: James Johnson received an apparent 1 foul after punching Tate in the face in a third quarter foul. … Cauley-Stein added 15 points with seven rebounds.
Missiles: Danuel House missed the game with back problems. … Ben McLemore was available after suspending the first four games in isolation due to COVID-19 protocols but did not play.
Mavericks: Visit Denver Thursday before returning home to play Orlando and New Orleans this weekend.
Rockets: Check out the Pacers on Wednesday before returning home for three straight games, with the final two going up against the Lakers.
