. World News – USA – Emily Maynard announces she will be 5 years old while pregnant. Child suffers from Bell’s palsy

Emily Maynard recapitulated her 2020 ups and downs on her Instagram story, revealing that she had Bell Palsy when she was pregnant with her fifth child, Magnolia Belle.

The former « Bachelorette » star, 34, shared a photo of herself lying down with a mask over one eye in September 2020, a month before she greeted her little girl.

« Got Bells Palsy and had to wear a patch, » Maynard wrote on the photo she first shared publicly on New Year’s Day.

Symptoms of Bell’s paralysis are muscle weakness, drooling, twitching, paralysis, and a drooping eyelid or corner of the mouth, according to the Mayo Clinic. The condition often comes on quickly and is triggered when a nerve on the face becomes swollen or inflamed.

Maynard said she previously had Bell’s Palsy in high school. The condition can appear at any age and is temporary for most people.

« I had it in high school and luckily I’m one of the few people who got it twice, » she wrote on her Instagram story. « It started with a severe headache that got progressively worse and went into my jaw. I thought it was an ear infection but then woke up one morning and couldn’t spit out my toothpaste or put on mascara. I knew exactly what it was so the doctor prescribed a steroid for me. « 

Maynard said he wasn’t sure what caused her bell to paralyze, but that it « got worse before it got better ». « Every morning she said she’d wake up and » run to the mirror to see if I could wink or whistle. « 

« I thought I was 34 years old and devoid of the vanity I treasured so much in my 20s, but it’s very humbling to be nine months pregnant and not be able to be half yours Moving face!  » she said. « I cried a lot and felt terrible, but luckily it got better every day. « 

Maynard and husband Tyler Johnson have been married since 2014. In addition to the newborn Magnolia Belle, they are the parents of sons Jennings (5), Gibson (4) and Gatlin (2). Maynard also has a 15-year-old daughter, Josephine, with late racing driver Ricky Hendrick, who was killed in a plane crash in 2004.

Despite her prominent social media presence, the Bachelor Nation fan favorite chose to keep her pregnancy a secret, only announcing it days before her daughter was born last October. Maynard also addressed her argument on Friday.

« Lots of questions as to why I chose not to tell people about my pregnancy: honestly, no real answer or plan, » she wrote. « There is a lot going on in the world at that time and I was scared of social media / news, so I just never posted it on Instagram. After a while, we decided that surprising everyone with a new baby would be fun! «
