CHICAGO (CBS) – The Cubs and Marquee Sports Network has hired longtime ESPN broadcaster Jon “Boog” Sciambi as the Cubs TV play-by-play announcer replacing Len Kasper, the last Moved to the White Sox booth every month.

« Having the opportunity to come to Wrigley Field every day and call games for the Chicago Cubs is surreal, » Sciambi said. « It really doesn’t get any better. Chicago is one of the best cities and Wrigley is the best baseball field out there. ”

Sciambi, who has held numerous roles at ESPN since 2010 – including radio voice for Sunday Night Baseball and TV play-by-play announcer for Wednesday Night Baseball since 2014 – joins color analyst Jim Deshaies at Cubs ‘TV booth.

“We are excited to welcome Boog to the Marquee Network and the Cubs organization. We are confident that he will expand the incredible legacy of the Cubs broadcasters and quickly become a trusted friend of our great fans, « said Crane Kenney, president of business operations, Chicago Cubs.

During his time at ESPN, Sciambi also worked as the studio host on site for ESPN Radio’s coverage of the World Series and gave post-match interviews for SportsCenter on site. He has also taken on play-by-play assignments for college and the Little League World Series.

Sciambi joined ESPN in 2005 when he began playing play-by-play for select college basketball and MLB games.

Sciambi was also the lead play-by-play television announcer for the Atlanta Braves from 2007 to 2009 and the radio voice for the Florida Marlins from 1997 to 2004.

While Sciambi calls Cubs games for Marquee Sports Network, he will continue to act as the multi-platform broadcaster for ESPN.

In addition to Sciambi and Deshaies, the Cubs’ broadcast team at Marquee Sports Network includes studio host Cole Wright and side reporters Taylor McGregor and Elise Menaker. Also included are former Cubs players Ryan Dempster, Mark DeRosa, Doug Glanville, Rick Sutcliffe, Dan Plesac, Sean Marshall, Mike Sweeney and Carlos Pena, former manager Lou Piniella and Emmy award-winning broadcaster Chris Myers.
