With Netflix announcing Tuesday’s family thriller, We Can Be Heroes, fans who grew up with the original movie were outraged when they learned Lautner was not reprising his role to continue.. .

A Netflix Film Twitter account shared some screen shots from the upcoming movie, depicting actress Taylor Dooley returning to her role in Lavagirl, and a masked man who doesn’t look like Lautner as an adult partner. . A caption from a Netflix still says the actor playing Sharkboy is JJ Dashnaw. The advertisement also mentioned that the heroes have become parents since the 2005 film, with Vivien Leira Blair (who played the girl in the 2018 Bird Box movie on Netflix) playing their daughter.
On Twitter, fans weren’t happy when they found out Lautner wasn’t returning to the role. Some fans described the masked shark boy in the poster as « an imposter. ». “Some people have suggested that the reason for Sharkboy’s new helmet is that Lautner did not reprise his role.

Although Dashnaw is named in the caption, it is not listed on the movie page on IMDb. Although it appears to be Geoffrey J.. Dashnaw: a stunt coordinator who worked on the original movie. Dashnaw has also worked as a stunt double for actors like Zac Efron. Efron tweeted a photo of the two working together on the Baywatch set in 2017.
Although Rodriguez returns live and Dooley reprises Sharkgirl, they seem to be the only major players from The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl who participate in We Can Be Heroes. Cayden Boyd and Jacob Davitsch, who played rivals Max and Linus respectively, were neither listed on the upcoming movie page on IMDb, nor comedian George Lopez, who has played a number of roles including villain Mr.. . Electrician and teacher mr. Electricidad.
Despite the loss of familiar faces, the new movie features some great new actors. IMDb’s We Can Be Heroes page lists Priyanka Chopra, Christopher Macdonald, and Christian Slater as some of the actors appear in the upcoming movie. Netflix’s Plot Summary describes the movie as a group movie featuring children of superheroes.
When the alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their children must team up together and learn to work together if they want to save their parents and the world.
