Wrestling history was beginning to emerge when Don Callis teased an appearance by new AEW World Champion Kenny Omega for Impact Wrestling. Like a true Carny veteran, Tony Khan couldn’t miss the opportunity without taking the time to promote AEW and Dynamite.
The no-frills commercial with Khan and Tony Schiavone aired at the start of the Impact Wrestling program.
Khan could have filed an injunction or notified Omega that he was breaking the contract, but Khan wanted to back Impact with a paid advertisement to promote Dynamite as the # 1 wrestling target. 1 to apply on Wednesday evening. Although Khan disliked the shenanigans that led to Omega’s victory, he openly invited Callis to return to Dynamite.
This was a fun little moment for Khan. Teasing rumors about buying Impact was a nice touch. There was the Hyping of the Young Bucks as the biggest tag team in wrestling. That should plant the seed for all crossover fights. Another aspect is that I’m glad Khan doesn’t stand out on the screen. He wasn’t a very charismatic speaker who could control the arena. It looks like he loves the business though.
