« It’s not my problem if it didn’t affect Motherwell, but it is bad today. Allan Campbell is arguably my best player and I miss two of my three midfielders.

“It can be done better. I usually don’t try to jump on people as it’s difficult. But communication was a joke. ”

You would not have known this was an exhausted Motherwell Eleven when O’Hara finished a wonderful flowing move to the right to open the standings. The exchange had a touch of Scottish magic, Stephen O’Donnell and Tony Watt pulling Scott Tanser and Jamie McCart out of position to create a Liam Polworth-shaped hole in the box. His attempt was blocked, but O’Hara pounced on Zander Clark.

This was less than 20 minutes in, but still the contempt of St. Johnstone audible. They were the better team in the opening phase, full of verve and verve in midfield and eagerly followed the hesitation of their guests in the background.

They had the best chance when Jason Kerr and Conway got close with headers and had to wrestle Chris Kane’s savage blow with the last kick of the ball into the evening sky. For Callum Davidson, however, the condition of his midfielder was his most pressing concern.

« He [Davidson] fell awkwardly and I can’t say much more than that, » said the Saint’s chief. « It’s more than a dislocated shoulder, but I don’t know myself. Craig broke his nose.

“We started well and got good areas. We pressed well in the middle of the field and then received a counterattack.

“Ali [McCann] was the one who was on the ball, trying to do things. He did his chores and found him excellent. ”
