James Bond star Daniel Craig made a surprise appearance in Cinderella: A Comic Relief Pantomime tonight.
The actor joined the star-studded cast that included Daisy May Cooper of that country and Olivia Colman of The Crown.
Written by the Dawson Brothers and based on an original screenplay by Ben Crocker, Olivia made her pantomime debut as Fairy Godmother in the production.
Olivia was also reunited with fellow campaigner Helena Bonham Carter, who took on the role of Lady Devilia.
The hour-long Cinderella pantomime retold the classic story, with Anya Taylor-Joy, the Queen’s Gambit star, playing the title character.
Comic Relief executive producer and founder Richard Curtis said he was « extremely grateful » to have the opportunity to air the pantomime on television.
« We are very grateful to BBC Two and the great cast for allowing us to do our first pantomime, » he said before the pantomime.
‘It will be very fun and happy – and also a great seasonal opportunity to raise critical funds for the projects that are helping the most vulnerable people, both here and abroad – especially now that Covid is making things harder than ever has done many before. ‘
Patrick Holland, controller of BBC Two, described the pantomime as « a unique surprise at the end of the year when we all need to cheer up ». .

Artist Quentin Blake, best known for his illustrations of Roald Dahl’s books, has created a number of hand-drawn illustrations of Cinderella to add a touch of magic to the production.
Cinderella: A comic relief pantomime for Christmas will be released on Thursday, April 24th. December at 8 a.m.. 3pm on BBC Two, and it will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
