Initial reports indicate that the two cars collided around 5 p.m. on Stockroute Rd and Walkerston Homebush Rd in Palmyra.
Traffic on the Bruce Highway north and south was diverted along Walkerston Homebush Road after a truck accident closed the main route in Bakers Creek.
It is believed that one of the vehicles blew up in the collision and two people were sitting in one of the cars.
The front end of a LandCruiser ute was damaged and the vehicle came to rest on a holding wire attached to a power pole.
