World news – Train with « dangerous goods » derailed in the NSW region after severe flooding

Half of the train's carriages were derailed after encountering severe flooding on the railroad tracks.

Severe flooding near Coffs Harbor along the north mid-north coast of New South Wales has resulted in people rescuing their homes and has also resulted in a freight train derailing.

A 1.5 km long freight train with “dangerous goods” was derailed on Thursday morning shortly after 2.15 a.m. in rural NSW.

More than 300 millimeters of rain hit the area within 24 hours and led to major floods.

Half of the wagons the train was derailed, one of the locomotives was in a paddock and the other two were upright.

One of the locomotives leaked up to 8000 l diesel and 16 wagons with jackknives, four of which ended up in the flood.
