TikTok updated its privacy policy on Wednesday with stricter rules for users under the age of 18.
According to the new policy, the default settings for users between the ages of 13 and 15 will be private. Only approved followers can view the user’s content.
TikTok also no longer allows all users to comment on videos created by users under the age of 15, which limits the ability for friends of minors to be allowed. Users under the age of 15 can turn off commenting entirely.
TikTok has also disabled the ability to suggest default accounts for minors to other users.
Users between the ages of 16 and 17 will have slightly more access under the new policy advanced features, including TikTok’s Duet and Stitch features that are only visible to friends, as well as direct messages and live streams.
