Schools and sports groups across Victoria would introduce and expand measures to reduce discrimination against young LGBTIQ people.
The plans would introduce unisex bathrooms and non-gender sports teams along with inclusive language guidelines.
The move is part of the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network’s #SpeakingUpSpeaksVolumes campaign, which aims to help eradicate discrimination against LGBTIQ people.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of young people who are LGBTIQ , five times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers.
The plans would encourage schools to use non-gender-specific terms such as “partner” instead of words such as “husband” or “girlfriend” and “parents” instead of “mother” or “ Father ”to use.
