World news – The residents of Penrith must evacuate now or they will be captured

Evacuation orders were issued to residents in western parts of Penrith on Sunday afternoon. SES informed residents of the area to take Memorial Avenue to Great Western Highway over Victoria Bridge towards Emu Plains.

The evacuation applies to all properties within the Nepean River bounded area south of the Great Western Highway and west of Peach Tree Creek.

The evacuation also applies to all properties in the area of ​​all properties in close proximity to Cables Wake Park. The area is bordered by the Nepean River, Jamison Road, and Peach Tree Creek.

SES said anyone staying in the area after 4:30 p.m. could be trapped without electricity, water, and other vital services and it could be too dangerous to be rescued.

Similar orders were issued on Sunday for residents of western Jamisontown. Those in the area have been instructed to evacuate the high risk area using the Great Western Highway Evacuation Route.

The order pertains to properties on Jamison Road, Surveyors Creek, Blaikie Road, the back of the Penrith Homemaker Center, the Western Motorway and the Nepean River.

The Bureau of Meterology warned of rising river levels in Penrith earlier in the day.

« River levels in Penrith have risen faster than previously expected, and river height forecasts were therefore increased, « BOM said in a statement.

 » The Nepean River in Penrith can reach about 10 meters with moderate flooding at 9pm on Sunday.

Prime Minister Gladys Berejiklian warned that in the coming days further evacuations are expected as the state is preparing for heavier rain.
