The star died today at her Los Angeles home, but the cause of her death has not been determined.
She was best known for starring Officer Laverne Hooks in all five Police Academy films.
Marion was originally a stage actress and starred in the original Broadway and subsequent tour productions of Hello, Dolly !.
Marion got her most iconic role in the first Police Academy film in 1984 – and was known for her high-pitched voice in that role .
In 1993, Marion repeated her role in the video John Virgo: Playing for Laughs and in a 2006 episode of Robot Chicken.
It is believed that her last appearances were television films Lavalantula and its sequel 2 Lava 2 Lantula !
