World news – The NRL game brings Titanic cash flow to Lismore

Lismore's NRL game between the Titans and the Warriors is expected to bring a huge financial boost.

The game between the Gold Coast Titans and the New Zealand Warriors on Saturday February 27th brings a lot more to Lismore than just great sports.

Lismore City Council announced that the economic benefits of the NRL friendly with the Titans coming to Lismore for their match against the Warriors are already in the six figures.

Combined with on-site ticket, food and beverage sales, the council said nearly $ 200,000 will be poured into the Lismore economy over the three days that culminated in the NRL friendly match on Saturday.

On Friday, a council spokesman said it was clear that the combination of all direct, industrial and consumption effects would result in an estimated total increase in production of $ 198,860 in Lismore City’s economy.

He said the economic benefit of the 130-strong Titan team, entourage, and officials, who stay in Lismore overnight at an average of $ 180 and spend $ 150 a day on meals and entertainment, is a total visitor expense from $ 128,700.

This additional direct production from the economy would also lead to an increase in indirect demand for intermediates and services in related industries and estimated at an additional production of $ 27,317.

There would be an additional contribution to Lismore City’s economy through consumption effects as correspondingly more wages and salaries are spent in the local economy, which is estimated at around USD 9,649.

The combination of all direct, industrial and consumption effects would result in an estimated total increase in production of $ 147,596 in the Lismore City economy for this regionally significant event.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said ticket sales to public attendees are around 3,400 at an average price of $ 26.

The council said an estimated $ 25 per day spending on meals and entertainment would result in a total visitor spend of $ 173,400 on hosting the Titans versus Warriors event, which would directly impact production of $ 149,055.

This additional direct production from the economy would also lead to an increase in indirect demand for intermediate products and services in related industries.

This indirect industrial impact is estimated at an additional $ 36,805 and would add an additional contribution to Lismore City’s economy through consumption effects as more wages and salaries are spent in the local economy.

The combination of all direct, industrial, and consumption effects would result in an estimated increase in production in Lismore City’s economy totaling $ 198,860.
