Boothby MP Nicolle Flint has announced that she will not hold the most marginal seat in the state in the upcoming general election.

Ms. Flint dropped the message Friday night, saying it was « an honor » to represent her constituents in the southern suburbs for two terms, but she would not rename.

« I am grateful to you and my Liberal Party members for giving me this opportunity, » she said.

« I will continue to work hard on political issues that I advocated during my time in Parliament, such as endometriosis, stillbirth, improved road and rail infrastructure, the arts and protection of Australia from foreign invasion and predatory foreign investment. »

Ms. Flint, 42, also said she would support the candidate selected by members of the Liberal Party to ensure the party comes back to office « to lead our nation out of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond ».

In 2019, she held the seat and fought off Labor candidate Nadia Clancy with 51.38 percent of the two candidates’ preferred votes.

The last month has not gone smoothly for Ms. Flint, whose election office on Anzac Highway was defaced by activists on February 8th.

Climate change-focused activist group Extinction Rebellion protested at the Glenelg East office, writing slogans on the front of the building and sidewalk when the traffic had passed during peak hours, and called the police.

The Australian reports that the former advisor to Malcolm Turnbull and Brendan Nelson and a fellow of the Institute of Public Affairs has decided that she can no longer tolerate the pressures of political life as a female MP.

She has been persecuted and her office has been ravaged and ravaged by graffiti that she labeled as prostitutes in the 2019 election campaign. Australians report that they were devastated by the events that rocked Parliament over the past fortnight.

Former Liberal worker Brittany Higgins said she was raped by a colleague in the office of then Secretary of Defense Linda Reynolds, leading to further allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior in politics.

Police were also notified of an anonymous letter to Scott Morrison detailing historical allegations of sexual assault against a government minister.

No date has been set for the election, but there has been speculation that it will take place this spring – seven months ahead of schedule.
