World news – The dead mall in Jacksonville is transformed from a single source into a viral vaccine

The local inventory of initial admissions expires on Thursday.

Regency Square, a once prominent Jacksonville mall that has long seen better days, saw a surge in traffic last year as a state COVID-19 test site.

Now the park-heavy, logistically friendly Arlington- Package a new purpose in the ongoing war with the novel coronavirus. In the future, it may serve as a vaccination station as early as Wednesday.

In two senior centers in Jacksonville, there were logistics issues ranging from waiting times to parking at the locations in the neighborhood.

More than 8,000 Vaccinations have been carried out at these senior center locations and the city is ready to open additional locations, but the shortage of supplies is acute in Jacksonville as elsewhere.

Most of the comments have focused on noting that the city is ready To take pictures but the supply is running out. « The city will run out of first dose of vaccine on Thursday, » said Mayor Lenny Curry. « To be clear, at this point we are running out on Thursday and at the end of Thursday we will no longer be able to operate these vaccination centers. »

« Many of you have expressed frustration with the availability. Please understand that we do not control the supply chain. While the state of Florida determines who gets their weekly grant and how much, even they don’t know what they’ll get week after week. «

Curry expressed » confidence « in getting vaccines but noted that » at this rate, it could be months before most of us get the vaccine. «

» We’d like to be in control about the supply … but we are simply not here, « complained the mayor. » We are facing a national logistics problem. «

» We are ready to open more locations if and when it is important, more supplies become available. «

Duval has passed the 75,000 case count, with daily positive testing at a robust 8.5%. Curry described » an increase in cases … an increase in the community as the spread continues. « Hospitals « Take care of the cargo, » but Curry urged people to take them seriously.

« A mask is not a political statement, » pleaded the mayor, pushing for social distancing and « increasing your hygiene practices. » Dr. Leon Haley, the CEO of UF Health, said the « second inst ieg is there « , albeit with » encouraging signs « .

Improved treatments such as » sensible use of oxygen « have helped make the treatment more efficient. And fans abound for those who might need them.
