The Smyrna Police Department confirmed a widespread blackout across the city of Smyrna on Thursday.
« Power is being restored. Everyone affected should have power for the next 30 to 40 minutes, » said Kathy Ferrell , Spokeswoman for the City of Smyrna.
Eight Rutherford County Schools were affected by the blackout, said district spokesman James Evans.
These schools are Rocky Fork Elementary, Rocky Fork Middle, Stewartsboro Elementary, Smyrna West Alternative , Smyrna Middle, Smyrna Primary, David Youree and Thurman Francis Arts Academy.
Many of our affected schools have already been restored, but it will be a few minutes before their phone systems are restarted, Evans said.
