When a network calls their show « The Chase » it is meant to create a sense of urgency and speed. However, speed was the only thing fans felt was insufficient for the ABC restart compared to the version of the show on the Games Show Network. They criticized the speed with which the new host Sara Haines read the questions aloud.
While there were many criticisms of the ABC revival and the various minor changes to the show’s format, the biggest complaints came in immediately when Sara interviewed participants in what was meant to be a rapid-fire cash builder. « Some of the choices here are confusing. Do you have the sound effects but not the great music? A host who reads at a snail’s pace? I hope that gets better quickly, » was an early reply. Quick thoughts: It’s exactly what I wanted a new American version of ‘The Chase’ to be. The set looks good, $ 25,000 is way too high for a cash builder, and it kind of makes the deals stupid Sara is fine, I don’t like the Chaser’s Lounge .. « was another. I’ve been sad about Alex Trebek every day since he died and his last episode aired, they replaced it with this show #thechase and it’s THE OPPOSITE of danger! !!! Gimmicky, the set is so busy, too much talked, not fast, hardly challenging. It’s so disappointing
