Southampton returned 2-0 down, beating Burnley 3-2 at St. Mary’s to move further away from the Premier League relegation zone.

The teams started the day on time and knew that a win would almost ensure their survival in the Premier League for another season. The visitors sped out of their traps on a sun-drenched day on the south coast.

Burnley should really have known what was coming when the teams were announced at St. Mary’s and Danny Ings on the grid for the first time since a leg problem at Sheffield United on March 6th from Southampton.
