World news – South Florida adds 4K new COVID-19 cases if Palm Beach crosses 100K

The vaccination centers in the region are being expanded.

Thursday’s Department of Health report included 4,078 new COVID-19 cases in South Florida’s tri-border region. The latest numbers have put Palm Beach County above 100,000 cases since the pandemic began.

For the first time since Friday, the case positivity rate in Palm Beach County fell. A day-long increase had reversed an otherwise bearish trend in this metric in the region. Around 7.3% of all tests recorded in Palm Beach County’s Thursday report were positive. This is the second lowest daily percentage of positive tests recorded in the county in the past 22 days.

The positivity rate in Broward and Miami-Dade counties also fell below 8% in Thursday’s report. Experts advise against getting involved with daily trends that can fluctuate. But the weekly numbers in all three counties are also encouraging.

Newly reported hospital stays are still quite high in Miami-Dade County, although that number is below the last week. Hospital admissions are also falling in Broward, but that number has increased slightly from week to week in Palm Beach County.

The vaccination centers in the area are expanding. All 67 Publix locations in Palm Beach County are now ready to manage COVID-19 recordings. Late on Wednesday, the governor also confirmed that Marlins Park in Miami would attempt to vaccinate up to 1,000 people a day.

The tri-border region recorded another 25 deaths in Thursday’s report. This means that 8,714 people lost their lives in these three counties alone after the conclusion of COVID-19.

Here are some of the weekly numbers for the past three weeks in the entire South Florida border triangle:
