Kyle Lowry may be back on the lineup when the Toronto Raptors visit the Indiana Pacers on Sunday afternoon. The Star Point Guard missed the Raptors’ game against the Miami Heat on Friday night with an infection in the toe.
The Pacers are still trying to fill the void Victor Oladipo left when he was traded on Jan. 14 . They took their first win since the last trade-out and will try to continue their wins on Sunday.
Toronto has won seven of the last ten matches between the clubs, including a 127-81 win when they played in last met last February. This time around, the Pacers are favored by 1 point and there are many props for players to consider.
We won’t have any Raptors props until a decision has been made on Lowry’s status. So let’s take a look at the Pacer’s side first.
After trading with Victor Oladipo, Malcolm Brogdon is the player who seems to benefit the most in terms of usage. It has already achieved a career-high usage rate of 25.2% this season and up to 28.9% in the last three games without Oladipo. He’s taking his chance to say the least.
Depending on the status of Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam, the Raptors could be half as strong today. In general, this can be a situation to stay away from as it can lead to a blowout, but in this case it may not. The Pacers are still trying to find their way around without Oladipo and have only won one game since he left. Brogdon’s minutes should be safe today, whether Lowry and Siakam are playing or not.
In the last three games, only three teams have allowed more support for the goal than the Toronto Raptors. 67% of the field goals scored against them were supported, which is actually below the seasonal mark of 68%. That should favor Brogdon today.
In his last four games Brogdon averages 22.5 points per game. Only once did he fail to score at least 23 points, and that was a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Given the current state of the Pacers, Brogdon should score 30 points clear in the 20s if that game stays close.
Brogdon isn’t the only Pacer to impress lately. Myles Turner may have a broken hand, but he didn’t let that stop him from playing Orlando for the last time. He showed that he could still handle the ball and shoot in his performance of 22 points and nine rebounds.
Only two teams in the NBA this season have a worse rebound rate than the Pacers with 47.9%, but that’s not up to Turner. In his last three games, he has played an average of more than 10 boards per game. He plays an average of almost 40 minutes per game in this stretch. If he’s playing anywhere near that number today, he should fly above his points plus rebounds.
