Pitt and Wake Forest arrived at the Petersen Events Center on Tuesday, each losing five games in a row .
So it was no surprise that no one took control until Pitt found his shot more than halfway through the second half en route to a 70:57 win.
It was only the second The Panthers have been victorious since January 19th and improved their overall ACC record to 10-10 and 6-9. Wake Forest fell to 6-14, 3-14.
Pitt led 43:40 in the middle of the second half after going through a 6 minutes and 8 second drought without scoring a basket. </ Suddenly the Panthers made a 15-3 run that was ignited by Onyebuchi Ezeakudo's moving layup. Nike Sibande, who led Pitt by 23 points and added nine rebounds, scored seven with no response from Wake Forest. After that, Pitt was never threatened again.
Justin Champagnie scored 20 points with 12 rebounds for his 13th double-double. William Jeffress and Abdoul Karim Coulibaly each scored eight points for the Panthers.
After hitting 15 of 32 3-pointers in a 1-point win against Pitt earlier this season, Wake Forest continued to shoot from outside the arc . Of her total of 53 attempts, 29 were started from outside the 3-point arc. Ten found the mark.
The game started with Champagnie on the bench and he played just 14 minutes before break. He still managed seven points and five rebounds to help Pitt take a 30-29 lead.
Sibande led the Panthers with 10 points in the first half, including two 3-point points the like Missed shots looked like. The first fell off the backboard and the second hit the rim several times before falling through the strings.
Coulibaly was off the grid for only the second time in 20 games but ended the half with seven points, including his third 3 Pointers of the Season.
