World news – Paine top results for Tasmania in Shield

Tasmania reached 7-258 at Stumps on the opening day of the Sheffield Shield clash with NSW, when Tim Paine ended up unbeaten at 61.

Tim Paine met a precious half century to prop up Tasmania on the first day of their clash with NSW against Sheffield Shield.

The test skipper was undefeated at Bellerive Oval with 61 stumps on Saturday when the home team was 7 -258 after being sent to the racket.

The Tigers’ top order started against a strong NSW attack, but only Paine and Matthew Wade, 57, recorded half a century.
