World news – NOC-K characters deal with Kenya charity sweepstake

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has signed a four-year sponsorship deal with the Kenya Charity Sweepstake (KCS).

The National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) has signed a four-year sponsorship deal with the Kenya Charity Sweepstake (KCS).

Yaron Farachi, Chief Executive Officer of KCS, gave NOC-K Sh10 million dummy checks to help prepare Team Kenya when he signed the contract through 2024.

Tergat assured that the 2020 Olympic Games will take place in Tokyo. “Let me say from the start that we, the organizers of the Olympic Games, firmly believe that the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will be postponed as planned later this year.

“For us at NOC-K, we used the postponement as an opportunity rather than a setback to better prepare our athletes and to improve our participation and our result. This is in no way intended to reduce the impact of the missed opportunities our athletes had after ceasing local and global activities.

« Going forward, we have focused more on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which will be the most important sporting event of the year.

We held high-level planning meetings and engagements with our stakeholders, both from the government and associations , the athletes and their coaches, ”said Tergat.

Some team captains from various sports associations attended the event. These included Geoffrey Oluoch (rugby 7), Benjamin Kigen (athletics), Mercy Moim (volleyball), Philadelphia Orlando (rugby 7), Faith Ogalo (taekwondo), Nick Okoth (boxing) and Mary Moraa (athletics).

Tergat added: “The aim is to jointly align ourselves with the unique success goal of the Kenya team in Tokyo. As you may know, attending the Olympics is a long-term and very expensive endeavor. This has now been made worse by the requirements of the Covid-19 protocol such as frequent testing and managing the training environment.  »

“We have worked with NOC-K before and our goal is to make sure our team is well prepared for the Olympics. We are a firm believer in sports and will close the deal through the 2024 Olympics.

« We encourage people to support our Games, which in turn will help develop our Olympic team, » said Farachi.

Kigen, a 3,000 meter steeplechase star, said he wanted to reinforce and protect Kenya’s 3,000 meter steeplechase, Kenya’s number race.

“I’ve been on the road for a long time, but I hope we can keep the title in the obstacle race in Tokyo. I’m sure we will, ”he said.
