The San Jose State Spartans and New Mexico Lobos meet in Burns Arena college basketball on Thursday.

San Jose State has entered this game at 2-10 so far. The Spartans have lost four times in a row, most recently against the state of Colorado last week. New Mexico is 4-8 this season. The Lobos have lost consecutive games against UNLV. Check back all season for free college basketball tips on Sports Chat Place.

The state of San Jose started its season with a win over Fresno Pacific but then fell to Saint for the next six games Marys, Cal Poly, the state of Utah, and the state of Boise. After beating Benedictine Mesa, the Spartans lost four more games. two each to Fresno State and Colorado State.

In Saturday’s loss to the Rams, Rich Washington and Sebastian Mendoza of San Jose state scored 15 points each, scooping five rebounds and five assists. Ralph Agee added 12 points with five rebounds and Jalen Dalcourt had 10 points with two boards in 25 minutes.

On the New Mexico side, they won their first three games that season against Rice, Our Lady of the Lake and LeTourneau. Then there were six defeats in a row, two each to Boise State, Nevada and Utah State. The Lobos defeated Dixie State but have fallen in the last two against UNLV.

In Monday’s loss to UNLV, New Mexico’s Saquan Singleton took the lead with six rebounds and six assists with eleven points, while Valdir Manuel put on ten points and five rebounds. Makuach Maluach added nine points with eight boards and an assist in 32 minutes on the floor.

The over is 11-5-1 in the Lobos’ last 17 Thursday games and the under is 14-3-1 in the last 18 games in total. New Mexico has 0-4 ATS in the last four home games and a total of 2-7 ATS in the last nine games.

Meanwhile, the Spartans have 15-35-1 ATS in their last 51 street games and a total of 19 in the last 60 -40-1 ATS. San Jose State has ATS 0-4 in their last four games on Thursday and ATS 1-9 in their last 10 games after losing ATS.

PICK: I’m sticking with New Mexico. There isn’t much intrigue in a matchup with teams playing 6-18 together, but the good news is that this should be at least a competitive game. None of these teams can score well. The state of San Jose has been 65 or younger for the past four years, and New Mexico got a total of 100 points on its last pair. Still, I think the Lobos are offended enough to pop a cover here.
