Mets General Manager Jared Porter’s position on the team could be on shaky ground after a report late Monday night that said he sent unwanted text and pictures to a reporter in 2016 that culminated in a shot of a naked, erect penis .
ESPN reported that Porter, who was then working for the Cubs, had sent 17 pictures to the woman – a foreign correspondent who had moved to the US to cover Major League Baseball. The first 15 photos showed a hotel and restaurants. The 16th was from a bulge in his pants and the 17th was from a bare penis.
Porter admitted to texting the woman, but initially said he had no pictures of himself Posted. With more evidence, he denied the explicit pictures were of himself and called them « hoaxes ».
Porter, 41, was hired by the Diamondbacks last month as the new GM of the Mets under Team President Sandy Alderson.
« I spoke directly to Jared Porter about events in 2016 that were first brought to our attention tonight, » Alderson said in a statement Monday evening. « Jared has admitted his grave error of judgment to me, assumed responsibility for his behavior, expressed remorse and apologized for his actions beforehand.

According to the ESPN report, Porter met the woman in an elevator at Yankee Stadium in June 2016 and they spoke briefly – that only time they ever spoke.
