World news – Manchester Originals announces 10 newcomers to The Hundred

The Originals had 10 spots to fill as the teams completed their men’s roster and got the top pick to bring in 25-year-old wicketkeeper Pooran, who averaged 49.05 in 25 ODIs for the West Indies and 21.23 in 24 T20s.

With so many slots to fill, head coach Simon Katich also grabbed Jamie Overton, Harry Gurney, Shadab Khan, Tom Lammonby, Steven Finn, Colin Ackermann, Richard Gleeson and Tom Hartley.

The new faces are coming to Jos Buttler and Phil Salt, who were removed from last year’s roster following the postponement of the inaugural season.

Women’s head coach Paul Shaw has added English bowler Sophie Ecclestone to his roster, which now stands at 13. The Originals women’s team will open the new competition against the Oval Invincibles on July 21st.

The 35-year-old, who ran 13 Tests, 120 ODIs and 38 T20Is for England, was selected along with Chris Wood from Hampshire.

Bopara said, « I was really hoping to be picked up and I couldn’t be happier to be designed by London Spirit. I was born in Forest Gate so it’s great to come home. « 

Bopara, who last played for England in the 2015 World Cup, was selected by Birmingham Phoenix in the original draft.

Tammy Beaumont, who scored 71 runs in England’s ODI win against New Zealand on Tuesday, was also chosen for The women’s team will be drafted.

Olly Stone will team up with English teammate Ben Stokes after being called up to the Northern Superchargers roster.

Stone, who in just his second test appearance in England’s most recent loss to India in Chennai took four wickets, was accepted in five draft picks.

The 27-year-old was not selected in the first draft in October 2019 because he was struggling with injuries.
