World news – Last chance for sunshine before violent thunderstorms

Friday is the last chance for some sun before the coming wet weekend, which could bring severe thunderstorms to the Gympie region.

BOM meteorologist Matt Marshall said Saturday would look most favorable with a « cocktail » of possible heavy storm elements.

« All serious phenomena are possible, causing noxious winds and great hail and heavy rainfall. So you’ve got the whole cocktail there, » Marshall said.

« Basically, it looks like all the ingredients are coming together to make the thunderstorms possible across southeast Queensland. »

Mr Marshall said a southern shift is taking place from New South Wales that will cause the wet weather next week.

« This helps fuel some of the Saturday afternoon conditions that will be conducive to the thunderstorms, » he said.

Sunday also has the possibility of a thunderstorm and the showers are expected to continue throughout the next week.

Mr Marshall said they would be closely monitoring the storm on Saturday and advised readers to watch out for warnings and monitor radars.

Weekend temperatures are expected to remain high, with Saturday possibly reaching 37 ° C, but next week the heat will subside a bit.

« It’s probably the last nice day we’ll get for a while, » he said.
