Charlotte Hornet’s rookie LaMelo Ball lived up to its hype this season and is considered the front runner in this year’s Rookie of the Year award. Ball has certainly received the praise he deserves, except from his father, LaVar Ball.
In an interview with ESPN LA, the father of three said he expects his son LaMelo to play better than he does now. LaVar has seen the Hornets rookie play in several international leagues, and what LaMelo is currently showing in the NBA is below average when compared to Lavar’s expectations.
« What I expect is much better than what he ( LaMelo) because I saw him play. Like I said, everyone likes to be like they played for their dad in the JBA league, and man, there’s nothing like experience. We went after Overseas and to 15 different countries and he killed adult men. Melo always played against adult men and the only difference now is that it’s a different league, « says LaVar.
According to LaVar, LaMelo, who currently has an average of 15 Score, five rebounds and six assists per game, apparently more in his pocket.
« You see this stuff and go, oh my god, it kills it. Man, Melo can do so much more. If he’s played with his two brothers, that’s a wrap. You have to change the basketball game when all three are on the same team, « LaVar added.
LaVar clearly wants all of his sons to be eligible for a team, but this hasn’t really been done yet. His second son, LiAngelo, has not yet played in the NBA, so his wish cannot be granted anytime soon. With LaVar saying that LaMelo has more to show it is safe to say that Hornets fans have some exciting times ahead of them.
