Former JCurve Chief Marketing Officer has joined ecommerce website search provider Searchspring as the new head of Asia Pacific.
Kate Massey was most recently Head of Marketing at the ASX-listed IT service provider JCurve. In this role, she was recognized by CMO on the CMO50 list of Australia’s Most Innovative and Effective Marketing Managers for several years in a row. She left the company after almost seven years as Head of Marketing Activities last September and after 11 years with the group.
This week, Massey confirmed that she has taken the regional reins of Searchspring and is overseeing the Texas-based company’s APAC growth plans. Searchspring provides search, merchandising, personalization and analytics tools for retailers looking to improve their e-commerce offering.
The appointment comes just under 12 months after the company merged with e-commerce search provider Nextopia, which brought in local clients like Kathmandu, Nourished Life, Patagonia, Rip Curl and Volcom.
Massey said she was attracted to Searchspring after reading online customer reviews about its solutions for G2, and she looks forward to helping the company fulfill its mission to be retailers’ e-commerce teams Superpowers ”.
« Last year companies faced unprecedented market disruptions, but they met those challenges with resilience, adaptability and agility, » she said.
In a LinkedIn post, Massey said that many retailers struggled to keep up with the explosive growth of e-commerce in 2020. « I am very excited to help these companies continue to adapt to the changing landscape and provide their customers with an even better online shopping experience, » she continued.
« Given the Searchspring team’s true commitment to converted site merchandising and the excellent customer feedback, I am incredibly excited to continue our success in the APAC region. »
Peter Messana, Searchspring CEO, said Massey’s APAC software experience was a primary reason for her appointment. Their recruitment also increases the company’s management quota to 50 percent women.
« With over 12 years of experience in the B2B technology industry, Kate remains committed to empowering local merchants to create high-converting shopping trips, » commented Messana. “Her successful track record and accomplishments earned her multiple awards and accolades, including CEO Magazine’s 2018 Young Executive of the Year and CMO Magazine’s CMO50 in 2018 and 2019.
“The APAC region, particularly Australia and New Zealand, plays a key role in the rapidly growing e-commerce ecosystem. Kate will be instrumental in further accelerating the adoption of e-commerce technologies in the region by building and strengthening Searchspring’s value proposition and working closely with our trusted agencies, partners and customers. »
Searchspring claims 2020 was the biggest year for its dealerships ever, with sales up 349 percent year over year, or $ 72 billion, last year.

« Business as unusual » is a term my organization has adopted to describe the professional consequences of COVID-19 and describe the rest of the tragic events of that year. Social distancing, plexiglass screens on counters and masks in all sorts of situations have brought us into a world we were never familiar with. But as we are kept reminded, this is the new normal. This is the world we made. But we also have the opportunity to create something different.
