Vasco: Jamshedpur FC, who have put on a decent show so far in the Indian Super League season, would like to finish in the top four on Sunday with a win against a fighting Kerala Blasters.

Jamshedpur’s head coach Owen Coyle will be pleased with the dynamism of his team. They are fifth with 13 points from nine games and a win against Kerala could bring them to third place.

The 1-0 win over former champions Bengaluru FC in their last game must have boosted the Jamshedpur players’ confidence to have. But one thing Coyle doesn’t want is for his players to get carried away at this stage of the season.

« When you win, morale is always high, but so do we (after) the Goa defeat picked each other up and worked really hard to get a smile on your face and play again, which we did against Bengaluru too.  » he said.

« That is certainly the quality we have in this club. We never get too high when we win or too low when we lose. We look for balance, understanding and (opportunities), to improve. «

Kerala Blasters entered the game after a demoralizing loss to Odisha FC. The results may not have gone Kerala’s path, but Coyle has been watching his opponents closely.

« If you look at Kerala’s games they were very unlucky. They lost 4-2 the other day (to Odisha), but Kerala could easily have scored 5-6, « said Coyle.

» When teams have disappointments like this, they can be very dangerous, so we have to make sure we’re ready for them. «

For Kerala , who is 10th with just six points, is a chance to restore pride as coach Kibu Vicuna believes his side are still fighting for the playoffs.

Vicuna had in last year at Mohun Bagan the I-League success with an attacking and possession-based football brand, but it has been difficult to get results with an injured Kerala team that has only won one.

« It’s not a question of style. The team (which I had at Mohun Bagan) is different, the players are different. We got off to a good start this season and now we’re making changes, we’re not playing the way we started, « he said.

» It’s not about being persistent in style, we are changing things in every game. We approach each game differently because we play against different teams. We focus on both our game and our opponents’ style. «

The point from the draw meant the Kolkata heavyweights (17 points, eight games) moved past Mumbai City (16 out of seven games) to the top of the table.

A bad finish has cost CFC in previous games and they have given away goals from set pieces that coach Csaba Laszlo would not like, as the team has so far had two wins, two losses and four draws.

Jamshedpur broke the impasse through Eze, who scored his third goal of the season. Lima played a weighted pass to Aniket on the right and he floated a cross into the box. Eze passed his marker and dived deep to score past Gurpreet.
