Carlo Ancelotti admits he is concerned about Everton’s form against sides in the lower half of the Premier League as his side begins a seven week period who will determine their season.
The Toffees have more points against « Big Six » teams (14 out of eight games) than against those who started the weekend on the 15th or below (13 out of eight).
Starting with today’s visit to Southampton there is a run with games against West Brom, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Brighton, with Chelsea being the only opponent in the top half during this time.
With Everton only five points outside of the top 4 with a match in hand, March and early April will have a big impact on your Champions League dreams.
« I have to worry because we’re going to be playing against the teams below where we have more Had problems, « said Toffees manager Ancelotti (right). “We have to be able to solve these problems. I am convinced that it is a really competitive league, a really difficult league.
« If we look at the results in Europe, the English teams did fantastic – the three teams in the Champions League won. Three away games, Liverpool won, Chelsea won, Man City won. (Manchester) United did very well against Real Sociedad (away), Tottenham won easily, Arsenal won (all in the Europa League) – that means this league is really at a high level.

Everton’s home record is bad. They have only won four out of twelve games at Goodison Park and taken one point from the last 15 games on their own court. They occupy 15th place in the home form table.
That has to change if the top 4 are to become a reality. « I think we are more defensive away and make fewer mistakes, » said Ancelotti.
« Winning away is so important that you are more defensive and avoid problems. At home we may think that the game is easier and that we are not able to hold off the concentration we have.
“Defensively, we have to be more focused at home. If you can keep the game 0-0, which we lost to Newcastle, Fulham, West Ham and Leeds, we would have four more points. And having four more points would climb the table a lot.
« If we want to fight for the European position, we have to improve our home run in Goodison.
