Richie – who was officially revealed as part of this year’s lineup – said, « I was on tour and doing a TV series and Bantu but it was all canceled in March »
The actor continued: « I am now skinned. You can literally save money for a rainy day but you don’t expect a rainy day to last six months. »
The 56-year-old added that he had to “borrow money from my colleagues, my family and the bank” and as a result of these loans, he said, “My wife is now very happy that we can finally pay off the credit card”
Due to filming restrictions linked to the pandemic, ITV has moved series this year to Gwrych Castle in Abergele, North Wales, instead of the usual setting in the Australian outback
The squad was officially announced on Sunday (Nov.8) during the 20th anniversary of the show that saw Ant and Dec confront the Bushtucker Trials for the first time.
In addition to Richie, other contestants include soap star Liz MacDonald, Olympic gold medalist Sir Mo Farah, broadcaster and journalist Victoria Derbyshire
