This was Ouzounidis’ second stint as manager of Apoel, who was Nicosia’s 12th permanent coach since 2015, after taking over from Norway’s Kare Ingebrigtsen last February
In 16 games, Ouzounidis has won only five games, making five more and six losses
A far cry from the club’s heady days It is the most successful club in Cyprus with 28 league titles, but their fortunes have plummeted since the scrapped 2019-20 season which saw Apoel out of the title contention
In 2012, they qualified for the quarter-finals of the Champions League where they were ultimately eliminated by Real Madrid
