The fourth cricket test between Australia and India remains on track to be held at the Gabba despite a small group of the highly infectious UK variant of COVID-19 in Brisbane.

Queensland Prime Minister Annastacia Palaszczuk said she had no concerns that the gabba test would be canceled « at this point, » although the Brisbane area went into day three of a three-day lockdown to prevent the British variant from getting in the community is gaining a foothold.

« To be honest, all I hear is that it is very positive and my understanding is that the reasons are being prepared, » said Ms. Palaszczuk.

Queensland has had no new cases of the pandemic virus for two days in a row, but Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young is on the move before deciding whether the lockdown ends at 6 p.m. Monday.

Queensland’s lock and mandatory mask that Greater Brisbane residents wear when they leave home follows a casual cleanup that works at the downtown Grand Chancellor that has tested positive for the contagious British variant, COVID-19.

A man in his thirties who recently returned to Queensland from Ghana and his partner both tested positive for the British variant in hotel quarantine with the Grand Chancellor.

It is currently investigating how the cleaner might have developed the infection from her work at the hotel.
