The Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers meet Saturday afternoon in an AL Central Division matchup in MLB action from Comerica Park.

The Cleveland Indians will try to recover from a 3-2 loss to the Tigers in their opening game on Thursday. Roberto Perez was responsible for both Cleveland RBIs with a 2-run home run in the 9th while Cesar Hernandez added a double. Jose Ramirez, Eddie Rosario, Josh Naylor and Amed Rosario each had a base goal to end the Indians’ offensive as a team in defeat when Cleveland as a team scored just six goals in defeat. Shane Bieber took the loss after allowing all three runs with five hits while hitting 12 over six innings of work. Zach Plesac will start here and was 4-2 with 2.28 ERA and 57 strikeouts last season. In his career, Plesac is 2-0 with an ERA of 0.51 and 14 deflections against Detroit.

The Detroit Tigers will look to build on their victory over the tribe from the opening day. Miguel Cabrera was leading with a two-part home run in the first game, while Jacoby Jones had a double and an RBI to even out Detroit’s score in the winning performance. Jeimer Candelario, Willi Castro and Jonathan Schoop all had hits, and the Tigers scored just five hits as a team to win. Matt Boyd took the win after throwing 5.2 innings, which allowed only three hits to win, while Gregory Soto had a shaky 9th but got the save. Julio Tehran will start here and was 0-4 with a 5/10 ERA and 20 strikeouts for the Angels last season. This is Tehran’s second career start against Cleveland.

Cleveland is 1-4 in the last 5 games total and 0-4 in the last 4 games after a rest day, while the over is 3-0-1 in the last 4 games against a right-handed player. Detroit is 53-129 in their last 182 games overall and 26-68 in their last 94 home games, while the under 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog. Cleveland is 45-11 in the last 56 meetings between these two teams.

I understand the case that could be made either way here as Cleveland is better than what we’ve seen and Detroit this season not many wins in a row, but Plesac is not a popular pitcher on the street -175 and Tehran pitched well in spring training. Instead, I will take the side of the subordinates. Both pitchers are tough with Plesac’s career dominance over Detroit while Tehran had a great spring. Add in Cleveland’s offensive troubles carried over from last year and I think it’s a subpar day at Comerica.
