World news – Defense Research Institute makes heating equipment for troops in Ladakh

With over 50,000 Indian troops deployed in East Ladakh to fight China, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has developed several products such as Him Taapak heaters and snow melters to help the soldier to help fight the enemy in the form of extremes low temperatures.

The Him Tapak Space Heater (Bukhari) was developed for and has been used for the Indian Army which is used in East Ladakh, Siachen and at high altitudes Devices, the DRDO Defense Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences, placed an order for more than Rs 420 crores director Dr. Rajeev Varshney said ANI here. He said the device will ensure there are no deaths of pine trees from kickback and carbon monoxide poisoning.

DIPAS, which conducts physiological and biomedical research to improve human performance in extreme and war-related environments, also has an alocal Cream developed to help prevent frostbite, chilblains and other cold damage in soldiers in extremely cold areas. A flexible water bottle and solar snow melter have also been developed to address the problem of drinking water problems at freezing temperatures.

Dr. Varshney said the Army has placed orders worth 420 rupees with the makers of Him Taapak.

« The Indian Army has placed orders for this machine worth 420 rupees in all of the Army and the new habitats Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) where the temperature is low, « Varshney said.

He said the new heater had three improvements over previous ones developed by DIPAS.

» We have an improved one Developed a space heater called Bukhari. It has three improvements. First, the oil consumption in this device is almost half that and we calculate that we can save almost 3,650 rupees in one year. Very soon the army will be deployed all over the site, « he said / p> « Second, the wind speed is also high at high altitude. At this speed there is a recoil. With this construction there is no recoil. Even if a little air is added When it comes down to it, the device has three horizontal double-layer panels that can cut off the air so that there is no explosion. It’s an explosion-proof Bukhari. The third is that the device has a device with a capacity of 6 liters and 100 percent combustion. So there is no chance that it will produce carbon monoxide and other dangerous gases, « he added.

Commenting on the alocal cream, Dr. Varshney said, » The alocal cream developed by DRDO helps prevent it frostbite, chilblains and other cold injuries to soldiers stationed in extremely cold areas. Every year the Indian Army orders 3 to 3.5 lakh jars of this cream for troops in East Ladakh, Siachen and other areas. We recently received an order for 2-crore glasses from the North Command. «

According to Varshney, the flexible water bottle developed by DIPAS can withstand temperatures of minus 50 to 100 degrees, and the water in the bottle does not freeze due to cold when it is stored in liquid form.

» We have developed a flexible water bottle in which a removable water filter is integrated. This withstands temperatures from minus 50 to 100 degrees. The water it contains does not freeze. You can remove the filter and just use the bottle. It wouldn’t freeze. We received an order for 400 bottles of CRPF, « he said.

» To address the problem of drinking water problems at freezing temperatures in East Ladakh and other similar areas, we have Solar Snow Melter for trials in the Siachen, Khardungla areas and Tawang provided. The equipment can provide 5-7 liters of drinking water an hour, « he said.

» It works on solar energy. The device, which tracks solar energy and uses the energy to melt snow and water, is stored in a five-liter water tank connected to the device at temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Celsius. You can take up water with the water tap attached in the tank. It’s inexpensive, « he added.
