The renowned three-time Pro Bowl recipient who became a sports caster was stunned on Thursday evening when none of the participants in the popular game show « Jeopardy! » could answer a hint about him.
« Another humble moment, » wrote Collinsworth on Twitter, accompanied by a photo of his television screen. « Nobody in danger had any idea. »
The note read: « The announcers for » NBC Sunday Night Football « are Al Michaels &, that former recipient. »
Collinsworth was the Bengals’ second choice in 1981 from the University of Florida. The former Gator and first-team All-American played for Cincinnati for eight years. During this time, he received the First Team All-Pro Award in 1983 and advanced to two Super Bowls (16 and 23).
After retiring from the NFL, Collinsworth began his broadcast career in 1989 as a reporter for HBO’s « Inside the NFL ». Since then, he has commented for FOX Sports, NBC, and the NFL Network, and has received five Sports Emmy Awards.
