In West Bengal, the Congress is in a pre-election alliance with left-wing parties and the newly established Indian Secular Front (ISF) of cleric Abbas Siddiqui by Furfura Sharif. In the meantime 92 seats for the congress in the alliance have been fixed.

The alliance announced on Friday the names of the constituencies from which each party will fight for the first two phases of the parliamentary elections in West Bengal. The consensus on some seats has yet to be reached by the alliance partners. The Left Front also announced the names of the candidates for the seats assigned to it.

In Assam, Congress has teamed up with the AIUDF led by Badruddin Ajmal, the left-wing parties and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) to create the « Grand Alliance « to form. The distribution of seats will be announced.

The elections to the Assembly of West Bengal for 294 seats will take place in eight phases from March 27th. The last round of voting will take place on April 29th.

On the other hand, the elections for the Assam Assembly will be held in three phases. In the first phase, 47 seats in 12 districts will go to the polls on March 27. In the second phase, 39 constituencies in 13 districts will vote on April 1, while 40 constituencies in 12 districts will vote on April 6.
