During Harbaugh’s time at Ann Arbor, several quarterbacks were drawn in and out of the Michigan program. Another quarterback did the same earlier this week when Joe Milton announced his intention to leave. Milton started multiple games for Michigan in the 2020 season.

« I would like to thank Coach Harbaugh for giving me the opportunity to play for a long-standing program, » Milton wrote in a statement on Twitter. « I have ties with my brothers that will last forever. I made a decision to enter the transfer portal as a three-year qualifying degree transfer. »

Milton is just the youngest notable quarterback to leave the Michigan program ruled out. The Wolverines had multiple transfers during Harbaugh’s tenure.

All but one of Michigan’s starting QBs (McNamara) transferred either IN or OUT during the Jim Harbaugh era:

Rudock – IN (Iowa) Speight – OUT (UCLA) O’Korn – IN (Houston) Peters – OUT (Illinois) Patterson – IN (Ole Miss) Milton – OUT (???)

« Still puzzled as to why Harbaugh, a former NFL QB, the Michigan position can never get quite right, « he tweeted.

Still puzzled why Harbaugh, a former NFL QB, can never fully assess the Michigan position. https://t.co/JE66cg21yU

It’s strange that Harbaugh hasn’t developed a perennial starter at quarterback as part of the Michigan program.

But maybe that quarterback is on his way to Ann Arbor. The fans are certainly excited about the future of a five-star quarterback engagement.
