John Kennedy insists that the Rangers’ upcoming title win in the Scottish Premier League tomorrow at Celtic at Dundee United will not be the focus.

Steven Gerrard’s side are 18 points ahead of the Hoops and just four points away from their first championship win in 10 years as they prepare to face St. Mirren today.

In the event of a home win at Ibrox, a Celtic slip at Tannadice would confirm the title for the Govan club. When Kennedy, who began his tenure as Parkhead interim boss with a 1-0 home win over Aberdeen last week, was asked if the Rangers’ fame delay could be an added incentive for the players, he said: « It could be but so do we. I can’t worry about what’s going on elsewhere or how it affects others.

« We have to think about ourselves all the time and there we are.

« Ultimately, the Rangers are in a very strong position and if we were in that position we would be confident.

» We have to think about ourselves and face the season. It was, but what are we doing to move forward and that improves performance and is more consistent. «

» There were a lot of games in Aberdeen that I really enjoyed, especially in the first half when we were skillful in our game and created good chances. I think if we score a second goal it’s a completely different game. «

» We tried to build more confidence in ourselves and we just want to show that in our performances. «
