BC’s top doctor said the province was in wave two of the coronavirus pandemic as it reported 499 new three-day COVID-19 cases and two new deaths
« It could be said that we are in our second wave here of our COVID-19 storm in BC, but we are controlling what this wave looks like, » Dr Bonnie Henry told reporters on Monday
Henry says she is encouraged that BC has not seen the same exponential growth in cases as the other provinces
« What we are seeing is continued growth … especially where we have our largest population in the Lower Mainland, » she said
Henry reminded British Columbians they can help control the trajectory of the epidemic by keeping social interactions low so schools and planned surgeries can continue
There were 172 cases from Friday to Saturday, 153 from Saturday to Sunday and 174 from Sunday to Monday, Henry said.
Sixty-seven people were hospitalized with COVID-19, an increase of five from the last report on Friday The number of these intensive care patients fell from seven to 19
So far, 11,688 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the province Of that number, 9,753 – or about 83% – have recovered
