The eighth Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, met with massive criticism. In addition to fans who disapproved of the truth behind Rey’s (played by Daisy Ridley) parents, they also disagreed with the death of Supreme Leader Snoke, the obvious antagonist of the new series. However, Rose Tico actress Kelly Marie Tran received a lot of online abuse for her portrayal of the brand new character.
The abuse was so constant that the star deleted her social media accounts to get away from it.
Tran recently spoke about her new role in the upcoming Disney movie Raya and the Last Dragon, and touched on her time on the Star Wars series too.
The 31-year-old will play the title Raya in the upcoming film, who is the first Southeast Asian Disney princess in history.
This role has some weight, said Tran, commenting that she felt she needed to be « especially grateful » for it.

Tran said, “It shouldn’t feel so precious that there is something like this in the world.
“There should just be so many. Do you know what i mean? I feel like sometimes when you are in an underrepresented group of people and you get this opportunity, you have to do all these mental Olympics and that is such unfair pressure to incriminate yourself. ”
Tran linked her new role to her previous role in The Last Jedi and explained how to remember that she « deserved » to be part of the franchise.
The star added, « I’m telling you now, snap for all of you because you only exist in this world that only needs more energy to exist when you feel like you are different. « .
« [It’s] the idea that our stories are valid and we deserve to be told in any way we want. We deserve to tell it repeatedly from different angles, and it shouldn’t be just that one thing that we are so desperate to understand. ”
Earlier this year, Finnish actor John Boyega beat Disney up for treating him and Tran « differently » in the film.
Boyega said, “You knew what to do with Daisy Ridley, you know what to do with Adam Driver. You knew what to do with these other people, but when it came to Kelly Marie Tran, when it came to John Boyega, you know everything. So what should i say “

Boyega added, “You gave Adam Driver all the nuance, Daisy Ridley all the nuance. Let’s be honest. Daisy knows that. Adam knows that. Everyone knows. I don’t make anything visible. ”
Earlier this month it was reported that much had been cut from the trilogy follow-up films.
There was one in these ax scenes where Rey went to the legendary Star Wars planet Coruscant.
A Star Wars concept artist posted a picture of Rey attacking Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) on the disheveled planet.
Coruscant is an important part of the series’ story as it contained the capital of the galaxy and was actually home to the Jedi.
Because of the change, fans haven’t seen what the planet would have looked like decades after the prequel trilogy ended.
