After more than 40 years, the Ontario Provincial Police finally brought a first-degree murder charge in a murder case in northern Ontario in 1980.
Micheline St. . Amour was 20 years old when she. July 1980 was found stabbed to death in her bedroom in East Ferris Township.
« We hope to finally close and that Micheline can finally rest in peace, » a family-friendly source told CTV News.
Over the past four decades, forensic technology using DNA has advanced and, as a result, has helped uncover new information about the murder of the young mother from the North Bay area. St.. . Amour’s daughter was two years old at the time of the incident.
Last week on Nov. . 18 police arrested 62-year-old Roger Deschenes from North Bay and accused him of St. . Amour’s murder, OPP said in a press release Wednesday morning.
