VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A windstorm with gusts as strong as 90 kilometers an hour on Tuesday cut power to more than 60,000 BC Hydro customers
The biggest blackouts occurred in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, Langley, Surrey, White Rock and Maple Ridge, where around 25,000 customers were without power Over 30,000 customers in the northern part of Vancouver Island have also lost power, as have over 12,000 in the southern part
Many outages are caused by large branches breaking and falling on power lines, according to BC Hydro
