For the Vancouver Canucks, Mark Donnelly has been a favorite singer of the national anthem for several years. It’s been around for a while and is very much appreciated by the loyal fans in the Rogers Arena.

With his ability to not only cheer up the team, but also make fans feel so engaged every time he sang Canada’s national anthem, it wouldn’t be hard to say he was a long-time fan favorite. No longer.

Donnelly and the Canucks’ relationship appears to have ended pretty quickly after it was revealed that Donnelly has plans to attend an anti-mask rally. In addition to planning to attend the protest, the 60-year-old plans to perform the national anthem at the event.

Francesco Aquilini, the owner of the Canucks organization, quickly reached out to Twitter and tried to defuse the situation by tweeting, “Hey Vancouver Sun, change the headline to“ former ”Canucks anthem singer. He ended the tweet with the hashtag « #WearAMask ». .

Many angry fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts and feelings about the situation. Obviously, Donnelly’s decision, regardless of what is considered right and wrong, cost him his job at the Canucks organization.
